Cabelas

Cabela’s®, known as the World's Foremost Outfitter® of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, opened its newest destination retail store in East Hartford, Conn., on Friday, October 19, 2007.  The Connecticut store, Cabela's first in New England, is the company’s 22nd retail location in the country.

Cabela's stores are known as premier shopping and tourism destinations, drawing visitors from the local area and from hundreds of miles away. More than three million people could visit the East Hartford store annually, making it one of the top tourist attractions in the state.

The 185,000-square-foot, large-format destination store is located near Interstates 91 and 84 at the intersection of Robert Street and Silver Lane at the historic Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

Goodwin College

Goodwin College recently unveiled plans to build a new $90 million riverfront campus on 700 acres between Route 2 and the Connecticut River in East Hartford.  The new campus will feature 241,357 square feet of construction for new classrooms, offices, dormitories, a library, bookstore, café, and an early learning center.  The initial stages of development, estimated to cost $34 million, should be completed in fall 2008.
